Preparation For Toronto Bitcoin Expo 2014 Event, All You Need To Know
Exciting news for the bitcoin enthusiast, supporters, and community at large, the wait is almost over. The much anticipated “Bitcoin Expo” taking place in Toronto is just around the corner. The three daylong event, hosted by the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada aka BAC, will be held at Metro Toronto Convention Center from April 11- 13.
According the BAC website, the overall concentration of the event will,
“revolve around the growth and development of Bitcoin communities worldwide with a focus on collaborative and decentralized models.”
Of the goals of the event is to discuss the future of the digital currency on a global level and how it can be further aided along.
A large selection of bitcoin leaders, renowned speakers and businesses will be present to speak at the event. Bitcoin communities and business startups located in Canada will be highlighted at the event and given a stage where they can display themselves.
Toronto Bitcoin Expo
Canada is at the center of bitcoin activity and is home to a growing number of bitcoin enthusiasts, supporters, and digital currency companies.
At the same time, the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada has continuously stressed that Bitcoin Expo is an international event who’s aim is to benefit the entire bitcoin community and not only Canada. They want to bring benefit in particular to “under-developed areas and in areas where Bitcoin is still in its infancy”.
To further drive the point home, BAC has offered scholarships to speakers who might not be able to attend, the opportunity to speak at the exposition and part important information about bitcoin.
The even boasts itself of being organized completely by volunteer work. Every little bit of profit made thorough the three daylong event will be given back to the bitcoin community and the how’s of it will be decided by the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada. On the official Bitcoin Expo website, it stated that any profit made through the event will be used towards creating “more programs and initiatives in the bitcoin community.”
Toronto Bitcoin Expo Speakers and Presenters
The Master of Ceremonies at the event will be Andreas M. Antonopoulos, Chief of Security Officer at Blockchain and an entrepreneur, who will speak at 7:30pm on April 11.
Over fifty renowned members of the international bitcoin community will be speaking and presenting at the Bitcoin Expo. For example, software engineer at Coinbase and the creator of litecoin, Charlie Lee will be presenting at the event. To also speak at the event, Vitalik Buterin, the co-creator of Ethereum, a decentralized mining network and software development foundation and Stephanie Murphy, the co-host of the Let’s Talk Bitcoin podcast will be present. Jason King, the founder of Sean’s Outpost, a charity shelter for the homeless will be present to talk about his organization and giving charity through digital currency.
“These are exciting times, and I can’t think of a better place to have the Expo than in Toronto,” said Prepaid Bitcoin CEO Josh Agho. “The city has really become a Bitcoin powerhouse with increasing numbers of vendors and merchants accepting Bitcoin for regular everyday items.”
