Roger Ver’s $20,000 Bitcoin Bounty Makes Hacker Back Off
Chief Executive Director at MemoryDealers, Roger Ver, has placed a bounty on a hacker who continues to attempt to infiltrate his accounts. However, since issuing the 37.6 bitcoin bounty for the arrest of the cyber criminal, the hacker has backed off. The bounty is equivalent to about $20,000 USD.
Roger Ver’s Bitcoin Bounty
Ver posted a tweet stating that he wanted help obtaining the information of the hacker. He took to Twitter to write:
37.6 BTC reward for information that leads to the arrest of the hacker that is trying to hack all my stuff at the moment. details to come!
— Roger Ver (@rogerkver) May 23, 2014
Ver was able to identify that the hacker was using the Skype name ‘nitrous’. The MemoryDealers director also indicated that the attacker was targeting his old Facebook and an old email that Ver no longer uses. Luckily, the bounty was enough for the hacker to call it quits, fearing he’d be placed under arrest. Ver stated:
“An email address and Facebook account I don’t use anymore were hacked, but it started to spread until I told him I’m offering a $20k bounty for his arrest, then he gave up and gave me the password to all the hacked accounts. I’ll post all the details once I finish locking everything down.”
Bitcoin Bounty to Replace BTC Foundation
In addition to Roger Ver’s bitcoin bounty, another has been made to replace the Bitcoin Foundation. Early bitcoin adopter and bitcoin millionaire Olivier Janssens, has claimed hat anyone who can replace the Bitcoin Foundation with something more resourceful will recieve a $100,000 reward.
The current state of the Bitcoin Foundation has been under a lot of scrutiny, as members have been resigning due to the unorganized nature of the organization. Additionally, the joining of member Brock Pierce has left some within the bitcoin community a little annoyed.
Pierce has gotten some negative press recently, after being elected as a board member into Bitcoin Foundation, due to a lawsuit back in 2000. Pierce announced that he will not be stepping down from Bitcoin Foundation.
Janssens expects the relacement platform to allow bitcoiners a place to voice their opinions and make proposals. He projects that there will even be a voting system where the people can send bitcoins to the feature of their choice.
He states that the best idea will be the winner and will be decided by him on June 17th.
