Global Payments partners with BitPay to incorporate Bitcoin into product suite
Global Payments (NYSE: GPN), the worldwide provider of payment solutions, announced on Wednesday that it had signed a referral agreement with BitPay. The newfound partnership allows Global Payments to incorporate Bitcoin into its product suite and to offer the cryptocurrency payment acceptance to its worldwide merchants, according to a news release sent to CoinReport by BitPay.
On the subject of worldwide Bitcoin acceptance, Tony Gallippi, BitPay’s co-founder and executive chairman, had this to say:
“This partnership with Global Payments allows ecommerce and retail
merchants to easily accept bitcoin payments. The cross-border demands of
global merchants present a great opportunity for bitcoin acceptance and
will allow us to reach more customers in emerging markets.”
Global Payments attributes the addition of the digital currency to its payment system to their desire to continually innovate.
David Mangum, president and chief operating officer for Global Payments, said:
“We focus on delivering innovative products and services to our global
customer base, and this relationship provides us the ability to offer
our merchants an integrated digital currency payment choice. We
are pleased to partner with BitPay to provide next-generation payment
solutions to our customers.”
The partnership is expected to further increase the awareness and acceptance of Bitcoin. With Global Payments – a fortune 1000 company with merchants worldwide – being able to provide, through BitPay, its and its merchants’ customers the option to make purchases via Bitcoin, Bitcoin awareness could achieve new heights.
Bitpay is the easiest and safest path toward Bitcoin commerce. Tony Gallippi is paving the way for the new economy that we’ll see much more of in the future.
