SEC to hold forum on fintech innovation in financial services industry
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said in a press release sent to CoinReport that it will host a public forum to discuss financial technology (fintech) innovation in the financial services industry.
The forum will be held on November 14 at the SEC headquarters in Washington, D.C., said the SEC.
According to the press release, the forum is designed to further better cooperation and understanding among entrepreneurs, industry experts and regulators into fintech innovation and assess how the present regulatory environment can most effectively address these new technologies.
The proliferation of fintech innovation has the potential to transform nearly every aspect of our nation’s financial markets, said the SEC. The panels at the forum, added the SEC, will discuss issues such as blockchain technology, online marketplace lending and crowdfunding, automated investment advice or robo-advisors and how they may impact investors.
The fintech forum will be webcast live on the SEC’s website. Information on the agenda and participants will be published in the coming weeks.
