Ireland Will Host Its First Bitcoin Conference This Summer
Ireland Bitcoin Conference
Ireland will hold its first ever bitcoin conference this July, allowing promoters to encourage the use of digital currencies. The conference hopes to show how bitcoin will impact the world.
Fergal Murray, the founder of the Bitfin Conference, says the conference will raise awareness in issues dealing with the digital currency platform. He says:
“Bitcoin is moving from experiment to legitimate currency and payment system, but that’s just the first act. It’s also a protocol that can transform the way people and corporations track information and assets. There are big questions to consider. How will financial institutions adapt to a technology that threatens their dominance? What happens if inflationary and deflationary currencies collide at scale? What does it mean for law enforcement, national security and civil liberties? How can we strike a balance between openness and regulation?”
Some of the conference’s speakers will include Colm Lyon, who is the head of Irish payment giants Realex payments, Electronic Frontier Foundation activism director Rainey Reitman and CEO of CurrencyFair Brett Myers.
The bitcoin conference will be held in Dublin, on July 3rd and 4th at the Royal Dublin Society. Additionally, social events will take place throughout the city.
Dublin Bitcoin Friendly
Dublin is home to Ireland’s first bitcoin ATM. Bitvendo is Ireland’s premier bitcoin ATM supplier and exchanges euros into digital currency.
Bitvendo says that their machine has the ability to convert cash into bitcoin in as short as 12 seconds. They add that the ATM is capable of handling transactions worth up to 10,000 euros each day. That figure looks to be multiplied by 4 soon.
The company plans on sending out more bitcoin ATMs in the near future, starting with Waterford.
Though the Central Bank of Ireland warns of risks related to the use of such machines, this will in no way slow down the bitcoin conference or placement of the bitcoin ATM.
The bitcoin conference and Bitvendo look to further teach newcomers about bitcoin, and won’t let anything hold them back from doing so.
