Microsoft Okayed Bitcoin Trading Update On Kraken App
Microsoft has approved a recent update to Kraken app on the Windows 8 phone that allows the app to have bitcoin trading. This is an unofficial app of Kraken which is a digital currency exchange based in the United States of America. Initially, the app only had the option of allowing users to see live rates of various digital currencies. It did not have the option of Bitcoin trading. However, Leon Cullens, developer of the Kraken app, sought to change this.
Cullens released two updates on the app which Microsoft approved:
- The first one allowed people to view their Kraken account balance, close any open orders, and see open and closed orders.
- The second update allowed users to open new trades within the app, allowing for ease in Bitcoin trading.
Both of these updates are now being implemented in the app since they were okayed by Microsoft.
Not like Apple
The fact that these updates were approved shows that Microsoft is not like Apple who practically deletes any app that is Bitcoin related. Apple is seeking to release its own payment system which is why it might see competition in Bitcoin. However, Microsoft approving the updates shows that they at least don’t see Bitcoin as a threat to their system.
“Nobody really knew what Microsoft’s stance on bitcoin trading apps was before today, but by approving my app they have shown that they’re not boycotting Bitcoin,”
said Cullens.
Cullens also claims that his Kraken app is the first on Windows 8 Phone to have a Bitcoin trading feature. Okaying the updates opens up doorways for other developers to also incorporate digital currency trading in their apps. This could take Bitcoin trading to a whole new level. It could also encourage a more user-friendly approach to digital currencies.
On Microsoft approving the updates, Cullens says, “That’s a huge endorsement in my opinion.”
We couldn’t agree more.
