Rieder-Veltlinerhof to become first winery to adopt Rotharium Food Tracing

Vienna, Austria-based Crypto Future, a firm also specializing in blockchain-based IT solutions, announced in a press release CoinReport received from Jargon PR, Crypto Future’s communications agency, that the Rieder-Veltlinerof family, a well-known winegrower dynasty from the “Wine Town of Austria” (Poysdorf), is going to become the first winery to utilize the firm’s Rotharium Food Tracing application.

The family has been growing wine in Poysdorf, in the “Weinviertel” region, since 1746. They also run hotels and restaurants.

The lower Austrian region of “Weinviertel,” as the name suggests, is one of Austria’s most important wine-growing regions. The geological and climate conditions offer the perfect conditions to grow exceptional white wines like Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Grüner Veltliner. The Rieder-Veltlinerof family also produces rich red wines like Rote Cuveés, Merlot and Zweigelt.

According to its origin, each wine is given a distinct, special note and flavor. The wine grown in this region is predominantly fruity because of the marked change in temperature between night and day and the loess-clay soils. The complexity in the Rieder wines comes from high ripeness of the grapes. The Rieder Winery naturally pays attention to sustainable agriculture.

The Rotharium Food Tracing app allows for forgery-proof traceability of food. All logistics data like crop time and transport data is protected against any manipulation by storing it in a decentralized way via a mobile phone app utilizing blockchain technology.

The app enables farmers to quickly and easily set up their farms and define the goods they produce. After that, a QR code is generated and assigned to the particular products or production location. Both consumers and producers can then retrieve the data using a QR scanner.

The app is specifically suitable for winegrowers, as Austria requires the highest standards in wine production the world over. The utilization of blockchain-based food tracing allows for already prevalent quality standards to be further increased, ensuring the end consumer the best quality for their money. Moreover, the mobile phone application offers the possibility to increase the transparency of logistics and transport.
