Ex-Microsoft executive’s firm launches Bitcoin Direct to Starbucks
Seattle-based bitcoin wallet company iPayYou, led by former Amazon, Expedia as well as Microsoft executive Gene Kavner, has launched Bitcoin Direct to Starbucks, a new way for coffee lovers to use the world’s most popular digital currency, said a company press release CoinReport received.
The latest feature of the wallet enables users to effortlessly transfer bitcoin from their iPayYou wallet to their Starbucks mobile app. First, the user selects an amount of USD funds to transfer. Then, the Bitcoin Direct to Starbucks feature automatically takes the amount of bitcoin from the iPayYou account of the user and deposit it into his/her Starbucks account. The user will instantaneously see the amount in his/her Starbucks app and can buy coffee and other items at any Starbucks location.
“Bitcoin Direct is the quickest way for a busy iPayYou user to transfer funds to their Starbucks mobile app. After you initiate the transactions, your funds will be ready in seconds,” said Kavner. “iPayYou is revolutionizing the way consumers spend their bitcoins by focusing on how to integrate bitcoin with the normal habits of our users. Integrating with Starbucks was a no-brainer, as the company currently boasts 24,000 stores and with over one million customers using the Starbucks Mobile Order and Pay program per month. All of those customers can now use bitcoin to easily buy coffee, pastries, and so much more.”
Before this update, iPayYou launched gift card integration, which enables bitcoin to be used to straightaway buy gift cards from retailers including iTunes, Best Buy and Starbucks.
iPayYou’s wallet allows for buying, selling, sending and receiving bitcoin, with its features including the ability to cancel transactions and send payments via Twitter and email, all without necessitating the beneficiary to have a pre-existing account or bitcoin wallet of any kind.
“We want to put bitcoin in the hands of everyone; our goal is a future where bitcoin is the default currency. The best way to get there is to give consumers the ability to incorporate this new form of currency into their everyday lives. The team at iPayYou works tirelessly to achieve this every single day,” said Kavner.
