Zynga In-Game Purchases Can Be Made With Bitcoin
Game developer Zynga is experimenting with the idea of using bitcoin transactions for their in-games purchases. Such purchases are used to level up characters and offer a larger amount of content within a game.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, Zynga is one of the most dominant video game firms to accept bitcoins to date, following after the Android based Ouya.
With bitcoin added as a payment option, gamers have a wider variety of currency options to choose from. No longer are they restricted to using credit cards and prepaid game codes.
Through Zynga.com, players can choose to use their bitcoins on seven different games: FarmVille 2, CastleVille, ChefVille, CoasterVille, Hidden Chronicles, Hidden Shadows and CityVille according to Reddit.
Bitpay, an Atlanta based company is Zynga’s choice as the payment processor, and offers a guaranteed exchange rate as well as regular direct deposits to merchants in over 30 countries.
The bitcoin movement seems to be sweeping across all types of business genres, ranging from digital content to materialistic goods.
Bitcoin has yet to appear with major online retailers such as Amazon and eBay, since they work closely with Paypal. Many have stayed clear of using BTC, however, as times change, more companies such as Zynga will test bitcoin for themselves and realize the benefits of using the crypto currency.
