Thief turns Robin Hood
A person claiming to be the mastermind behind the August 2, $72-million bitcoin theft is promising to give away 1000 bitcoin in one week’s time, reports Sky News. Hong Kong-based bitcoin exchange Bitfinex was robbed of 119, 756 bitcoin that were in users’ segregated wallets.
Reddit user rekcahxfb, who claims to be behind the theft, has asked people to post their bitcoin addresses, also saying a draw will be conducted to decide who will get the bitcoin.
The user also said he had also created a “dead man’s switch in case I get blackmailed/arrested/murdered,” with “dead man’s switch” referring to a “bitcoin eater” address into which the money will disappear forever after a certain period of time and will be irretrievable to anyone, including the user, if he gets blackmailed, arrested or murdered.
To prove that he has funds to spare, the person has also sent 10 bitcoin to an eater address.
The individual asked people to provide him their bitcoin addresses for the bitcoin giveaway on BitcoinTalk forum also. The thread now has more than 100 pages of replies from people entering the giveaway.

I think this stinks on ice. Everybody lining up to take money that was stolen. It’s just reminds me of seagulls flying around a dump.
Yeah, it was sad to learn that 🙁
